Curriculum Pupils and teacher

The Indang British School's system is based on the British National Curriculum of England and Wales with a progressive programme of eleven key subjects, consisting of three core subjects and nine foundation subjects.

The three core subjects are:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science

The eight foundation subjects are:

  • Art
  • Craft Design Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • Information Technology
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Religious Education
  • National Language

The national standards in England and Wales have risen considerably since the National Curriculum was introduced. The private school sector have adapted the scheme to their own use. Indang British School will use the curriculum which will also include Philippine History and Geography.

The National Curriculum has set exams at 7 years and 11 years, but the School will also have termly reviews and an annual report on the child's progress.

The development of the Curriculum is the result of collaboration between British and Filipino teachers. Whilst the core curriculum subjects are taught by teachers who have taught within the British system, the composition of the faculty will reflect a range of teaching techniques that will help achieve our objectives.

Classes are kept small, allowing teachers to closely monitor each child's progress and requirements. The Headteacher is always happy to answer any queries the parents may have concerning the school curriculum.

School Policy and Discipline

We believe politeness, good manners and consideration for others are an integral part of a child's education, as well as respect for authority, parents and peers. Bullying will not be tolerated by teachers and staff.

All children will have a homework diary where their evening tasks will be listed and parents are expected to sign this book daily. Evening meetings with parents to discuss their child's progress will be held on a regular basis.
